The Orca String Quartet is an ensemble of high-calibre professional musicians serving the lower mainland area of Vancouver, Canada. We provide beautiful music which complements your event in a polished and friendly way, providing a warm, lively and inviting ambience. Skilled in choosing music that is appropriate to the moment, we keep our finger on the pulse of the mood and select music accordingly.

We perform music of a diverse array of styles from traditional Baroque, Classical and Opera to more contemporary such as show tunes, waltzes & tangos, jazz, swing, and pop hits. All players of the Orca String Quartet are professional musicians and are members of the Vancouver Musicians Association. The current quartet members have all been involved in playing not only quartet music, but also symphonic, opera and solo. Members of the quartet have accompanied a wide range of well known artists, including operatic tenor Ben Heppner, jazz great Cleo Laine, and Motown legend Smokey Robinson. The musicians have years of experience performing at events including weddings, special occasions, corporate functions, and private parties. The Orca String Quartet also performed at a dinner for the Prime Minister, Prince Philip, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

We will add a touch of elegance and fun to your day without drawing attention away from the event itself. We welcome your questions and hope to share our music with you!

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

The Orca String Quartet was founded by cellist Robin Copas in 1993. Robin holds a Masters degree in cello performance and is the Principal Cellist of the Vancouver Island Symphony and the Assistant-Principal of Sinfonia, the orchestra of the North Shore. He has a wealth of chamber music experience including recitals, festivals and playing quartet music on cruise ships around North America and Europe.

Robin has a background in planning conventions, corporate functions and special theme events not only from the musical side, but also from the perspective of the event planner. He has a knack of organizing the music for your event with an eye (and ear!) to the details that help make your event flow smoothly.
